Deputy President Reveals Affordable Housing Benefits

Kenya's Deputy President Kithure Kindiki says the Affordable Housing Project is very important. He visited the Mukuru Affordable Housing Project in Nairobi on Thursday. Kindiki said the project will help many Kenyans own their own homes one day.

The project is also giving jobs to young people across Kenya. They can use the money they earn to feed their families. Kindiki wants young people to take these jobs even if they only last a few months. He said the government is looking for other ways to create more jobs, too.

Kindiki said the housing project is also good for Kenya's economy. Many businesses are growing by selling products for the houses being built, which helps them make more money and hire more workers.

Making products for the housing project has also helped Kenya's factories. Kindiki said building good, low-cost housing shows Kenya cares about people's rights and will improve the quality of life in Kenya compared to other countries.

The first part of the Mukuru project is almost done. It will have 13,428 housing units. Kindiki said that giving people good places to live at affordable prices is an important part of Kenya's Constitution.
