Dhaka University will mark its 105th anniversary on July 1 with campus-wide celebrations. The university chose the theme of building a society free from discrimination. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan will start the festivities at Payra Chhattar near the student center. Teachers and students from all dormitories will join the morning events. The celebration honors the university's founding on July 1, 1921.
A colorful parade will begin at 9:30 am from Smriti Chirantan Chattar. University community members will march across campus under Khan's leadership. The opening ceremony starts at 10 am with flag raising and cake cutting. Music department performers will sing the national anthem and patriotic songs. Foreign students will also perform during the ceremony.
A special discussion about creating an inclusive society will take place at 10:30 am. Professor Dr SMA Faiz from the University Grants Commission will deliver the main speech. Three pro-vice chancellors and the treasurer will attend as honored guests. Faculty deans, department heads and alumni will participate in the academic session. Khan will lead the meeting at the Student-Teacher Center Auditorium.

Regular classes will stop from 10 am until noon for the festivities. Students will still take scheduled examinations during the celebration period.
