Dhaka youth climate conference erupts, Alam and Azmery rally action

Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge and Children Watch Foundation hosted climate discussions at Vintage Convention Hall in Dhanmondi today. Institute of Wellbeing Bangladesh and Work for a Better Bangladesh Trust provided additional support for the gathering. Young activists examined urban environmental issues such as waterlogging, inadequate waste management systems, polluted air, heavy traffic, and population displacement. Community leaders and climate experts collaborated to develop practical responses to these challenges.

Dr. Shahidul Islam from the University of Dhaka's Department of Geography and Environment emphasized the need to bridge generational knowledge gaps. He advocated for combining elderly wisdom with youthful energy and modern technology to drive environmental progress. Md. Zahangir Alam from BARCIK highlighted youth leadership potential in contemporary society. He emphasized that young people can serve as a guiding force for stakeholders in promoting environmental protection and climate action. Interactive forums, such as this conference, raise awareness among urban youth leaders about sustainability issues.
