Diddy Trial - Jury Splits on Racketeering, Four Charges Decided

A Manhattan jury cannot agree about the most serious crime against music star Sean Combs. The twelve people have been talking for more than twelve hours across two days about his case. They told the court that some jury members will never change their minds about the racketeering charge. This crime could send Diddy to prison for life. The group has made decisions about four other charges but nobody knows what they decided.

The racketeering law helps police catch crime families and criminal groups. Prosecutors say Combs used his music business to force women into sex acts. They claim he threatened and blackmailed victims to make them obey him. The government does not need to prove he did every bad thing himself. They just need to show he was part of a criminal team that planned many crimes over ten years.

Judge Arun Subramanian told the jury to keep working on their decision. The group will come back Wednesday morning to try again. Combs has said he did not do any of these crimes. He sits in jail because judges would not let him go free during the trial. The case has lasted seven weeks and everyone waits to hear what happens next.
