Discovery Ambulance Services teaches PEMS skills in Harare West

Residents of Ward 16, Harare West, participated in emergency medical training at Heritage Village as part of the launch of the Presidential Emergency Medical Scheme. Shadow councillor Arnold Kudakwashe Mhembere organized the community event where citizens learned life-saving techniques. Discovery Ambulance Services provided instruction through their training program designed to support Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 development goals. The company expanded from two vehicles in March 2024 to 36 ambulances nationwide. Their fleet comprises five specialized disaster management units, each capable of transporting multiple patients simultaneously.

CEO David Munowenyu reported training over 50,000 people throughout all ten provinces since May 2024. The program has provided medical treatment to over 20,000 individuals through community outreach activities. Deputy Secretary Tendai Chirau praised the public-private partnership during the ceremony. The initiative teaches basic first aid skills while providing health screenings and immediate medical care. Discovery Ambulance Services plans to deploy 200 ambulances nationwide, with a particular focus on rural communities that require emergency medical access.
