Sifiso Yolanda Sibanda, who performs as DJ Sfiso, has received her first major recognition with a nomination for Outstanding Club DJ at the Bulawayo Arts Awards. The Bulawayo-based artist, who has recently expanded her performances to Harare, will compete against established names including Kotwane Hikwa, Nospa and Mzoe in the category.
The 32-year-old DJ began her musical journey playing instruments in church before transitioning to virtual deejaying and sound design. She has since become one of the few women regularly performing in nightlife venues across Zimbabwe's club scene. Sibanda has already shared stages with notable acts such as Mellow & Sleazy, Leemckrazy and Ryan Synth, establishing her presence among recognized DJs in the industry.
