DJ Warras' murder suspect claims cops are making it all up

The accused killer of DJ Warras is claiming the cops completely framed him. Victor Mthethwa Majola told the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court that investigators faked evidence connecting him to the fatal shooting of Warrick Stock outside the Carlton Centre. He faces premeditated murder charges after being grabbed by officers on December 22, yet he insists he was actually chilling in Soweto when the crime happened near the CBD.

Majola swears he is innocent and merely a taxi boss supporting twelve kids who need him home. His lawyer read an affidavit stating police seized his licensed firearm alongside seven phones without explaining his rights or finding forensic proof. He argues the real public opinion supports his innocence, calling this a classic case of mistaken identity while offering condolences to the victim's family.

The drama apparently stems from a rental dispute at the Zambezi building, where his girlfriend lived. Stock had taken over security duties to install biometrics because tenants were paying a shady committee instead of the landlord. Majola admits his partner clashed with management over rent collection, but denies organizing a hit just because they were losing that extra cash flow.

Captain Abe Montwedi wrecked that defense by revealing CCTV footage allegedly showing Majola sitting right next to the shooter before the murder. Police also claim they found voice notes from his girlfriend mentioning deleted files, alongside data on Majola's phone listing Stock's vehicle details. The state remains convinced he orchestrated the entire hit and strongly opposes releasing him on bail.
