DON'T NOD's Aphelion bets big on alien sounds, Game Pass debut

Don't Nod prays this musical gamble reverses their massive losing streak as the studio released fresh Aphelion footage during the New Game Plus broadcast. The developers recruited award-winning film composer Amine Bouhafa to score his very first gaming project. He narrated the clip while explaining how bizarre tools helped build the frozen atmosphere.

Bouhafa utilized a rare device called the Cristal Baschet, which looks like extraterrestrial technology. Musicians operate this contraption by wetting their fingers to rub crystal rods for specific sounds. Production also involved the massive organ inside the Saint-Eustache Church located in Paris, to capture sacred narrative beats.

This release carries heavy weight because the company recently suffered through commercial flops like Lost Records Bloom & Rage. Banishers, Ghosts of New Eden, and Jusant also underperformed financially. They currently have a separate title in development based on a major Netflix property, but that remains far away.

Gamers can expect the launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series systems next year. The title drops directly onto Xbox Game Pass when it finally arrives.
