DP VP Elia Sets Party Ablaze With Rebel Bid

Alitia Elia wants to lead the Democratic Party away from deals with the ruling NRM toward state power. He says current leaders make personal deals instead of fighting corruption or human rights abuses. The party election process faces problems as the secretary general claims he secured most delegates before the local elections finished. Elia worries about the high fees leaders set without proper approval from party committees.

The candidate plans to ask for signatures from party leaders to force a meeting about election issues. He wants neutral committees to handle disputes instead of the current leaders, who also run as candidates. The party lacks proper systems for fair elections, with leaders picking who runs the process. Elia promises open leadership that builds party offices in all areas if he wins.

His unity plan includes bringing members to churches and mosques for healing talks. He believes courts should be the last option after trying talks with elders first. After winning party leadership, he aims to start a campaign against the NRM government. He dreams of making Uganda a place with safety, peace good jobs for everyone.
