Dr Farikai Manjeya held in the Gweru drug case

A physician in Gweru, Dr. Farikai Manjeya, has been remanded in custody alongside three other individuals on allegations of illegal drug use. The group was arrested following a police operation at a medical residence, where authorities reportedly discovered them smoking a substance believed to be crystal meth.

The prosecution successfully argued against bail, contending that the accused might interfere with the ongoing investigation. Officials emphasized the seriousness of the offense, noting it occurred in a facility intended for healthcare workers. The court's decision to deny bail means the four will remain in detention.

This case is part of a broader national initiative to combat drug abuse. Authorities are encouraging public cooperation with law enforcement to report such illegal activities.
