Law enforcement in Masvingo has charged two men, Bothwell Teveraishe and Panashe Barure, for possessing illegal narcotics. Authorities identify Teveraishe as a significant local distributor of dagga. The pair appeared in the magistrates' court following a police intercept.
Officers acting on a tip tracked Teveraishe's vehicle from the city toward Chivi. Surveillance observed Barure enter his home and return with a box before the car turned back. Police stopped the car at the Chivi turnoff, finding multiple plastic bags of dagga hidden in the bonnet and under the driver's seat. Barure was later arrested at a nearby growth point, where more drugs were found at his residence. The total seizure weighed approximately two and a half kilograms.
