Drought Forces Kotido Exodus in Search of Water

Families Leave Their Homes as Dry Weather Hits Uganda.

Many families who raise animals in Kotido must leave their homes. They cannot find enough food and water because it has not rained for a long time. All the grass has dried up, which means their cows and goats have nothing to eat.

Paul Lotee Komol helps run Kotido. He says lots of people moved to other places like Abim, Pader, and Katakwi where they hope to find food and water. The dry weather made all the water spots empty, leaving people with no choice but to find new places to live.

The people in charge want the government to help by sending food quickly. They worry more families will have to move away if help does not come soon. Mr. Komol talks to leaders in nearby areas, asking them to let people from Kotido bring their animals there until the weather improves.

The leaders say Kotido will become very empty if nobody helps the people who still live there. They want to save their community before everyone must leave to find better places to live.
