DU torch march demands trial of Sheikh Hasina

Jatiya Chhatra Shakti organized a torchlight march at Dhaka University calling for severe penalties against Awami League President and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina regarding accusations of mass murders, forced disappearances, extrajudicial killings and crimes against humanity. The demonstration concluded with a gathering at Raju Sculpture, where speakers alleged systematic state oppression spanning 17 years under the previous administration.

Organization leaders insisted the interim government must fully execute any International Crimes Tribunal ruling without influence or compromise. Dhaka University Chhatra Shakti President Tahmid Al-Muddassir Chowdhury warned that political operatives were allegedly preparing fresh violence while certain factions attempted to downplay past offenses. Central President Zahid Ahsan stated that members have remained displaced since the July movement, vowing not to return home until prosecutions conclude.

The group also demanded accountability for victims of the Pilkhana massacre, the Shapla Chattar incident and alleged disappearances of opposition activists. Leaders emphasized judicial independence while maintaining that verdicts must reflect the scale of reported repression and family suffering.
