Duale Commissions Deployment of 6,484 Healthcare Interns for 2025-2026 Cohort

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale launched the placement of 6,484 medical interns across Kenya. The new group begins their training for the 2025/2026 program year. Duale spoke at Afya House about the need for skilled and ethical healthcare workers. He stressed that these professionals help Kenya reach Universal Health Coverage goals. The secretary asked each intern to work with respect and dedication.

Duale promised the Ministry would continue fair and prompt intern assignments. He said workforce development must meet international standards. The government wants to build a strong healthcare system for all citizens. These interns represent the future of medical care throughout the country. Their training will prepare them to serve communities across Kenya.

Public Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni joined Duale at the event. Health Director General Patrick Amoth also attended the ceremony. KMPDU Secretary General Davji Atellah participated alongside other union leaders. KNUN Secretary General Seth Panyako and KUCO CEO George Gibore were present as well. Senior Ministry officials and health union representatives witnessed the intern deployment announcement.
