Dune Awakening Developer Plans More Hagga Basin Maps

Dune: Awakening players want more content after the game launched just over a week ago. Funcom community manager Ignasis Miró Sastre confirmed the studio plans to create additional maps similar to Hagga Basin. The starting area gives new players a safe space to learn before venturing into dangerous desert regions. Players love Hagga Basin because it offers exploration without the brutal PvP combat found deeper in the wasteland.

The developer expects to release new content as free updates every three to four months. Sastre mentioned paid content might appear later for major expansions that help cover studio costs like rent and pizza. Funcom aims to launch story content and PvE updates alongside any downloadable content packages. The company avoids publishing fixed roadmaps but communicates upcoming plans with fans.

Dune: Awakening broke records with 189,333 concurrent players during its recent weekend peak. The survival game takes place on the desert planet Arrakis from the popular science fiction series. New Hagga Basin-style areas could arrive around September or October based on the quarterly update schedule. The strong player response suggests continued growth as Funcom adds fresh regions to explore.
