EA splits FC 26 gameplay to answer years of fan complaints

Electronic Arts showcased an extensive gameplay presentation for EA Sports FC 26 following last week's initial reveal. The publisher emphasized responding to community feedback demanding improved gameplay mechanics. EA Sports announced two distinct gameplay modes for the upcoming soccer simulation. The development team promises enhanced responsiveness and player satisfaction through comprehensive system changes. This represents the most significant gameplay overhaul in recent franchise history.

Competitive mode targets online experiences such as Football Ultimate Team and Clubs with precise controls and quick responses. Authentic mode serves offline experiences like manager and career modes with realistic simulation elements. Players can switch between these presets according to their preferences. The studio refined fundamental mechanics such as tackling, passing, shooting, and player movement. Producer Paul Parsons addressed longstanding player complaints during the presentation.

EA Sports FC 26 launches September 26, 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms. The company built Competitive mode around responsiveness, consistency, and control principles. Authentic mode delivers traditional simulation gameplay for single-player experiences.
