Ebuka Onunkwo met Unubi residents in Anambra Senate bid

Chief Ebuka Onunkwo took his Senate bid to Unubi, where local leaders and residents gave him a warm welcome. The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) hopeful is seeking the Anambra South seat, and his latest stop brought him to Nnewi South in Anambra State.

First came a palace visit with HRH Igwe Francis Umennajiego, the monarch also called Igwe Ohazurume Unubi. His council joined him in receiving the guest. Later, Chief Amobi Ogum, also called Onyechimel’eze Unubi, held a reception at his home.

Several guests praised Onunkwo for his business record and work on local projects. Ogum backed his Senate bid and urged people to take part in politics. But he also raised concerns about money in elections, saying voters should pay more heed to plans and pledges.

For his part, Onunkwo thanked the hosts and spoke about jobs and growth across the district. One specific promise stood out. If elected, he plans to offer job openings to two accountants from Unubi who meet the required standards.

And he had a message about party rivalry. Supporters should keep good ties with neighbors who back rival groups, he said. Political loyalty would not decide who could benefit from his proposed aid programs.

NDC state chairman Rt. Hon. Ikem Uzoezie was at the event as well. He urged locals to back party candidates and spoke about public works and development in Anambra.

Other party figures at the gathering were Chief Okwuma Epuechi, the state publicity secretary, and Barr. Paul Chukwudumogu, who leads the NDC in Nnewi South. Ward chairmen from the area joined them.
