ECG gear stashed at Kansaworado raises questions

National Security agents have uncovered a suspicious collection of electrical equipment at two different locations in Kansaworado, a suburb near Sekondi-Takoradi. The discovery involves massive amounts of electrical supplies that seem to be improperly stored.

At the first site, security teams found an uncompleted building with seven large drums filled with fiber and aluminum cables. They also discovered around 100 boxes containing electrical meter enclosures, switches, and other technical tools. The equipment apparently belongs to MBH Power, a company working on an Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Loss Reduction Program.

Evans Lartey, a supervisor from MBH Power, claimed the company has proper documentation for the equipment. He stated they began the project around August 2023 and suggested that district and regional ECG managers were aware of their work.

The second location revealed even more unexpected findings. An undeveloped piece of land near a private residence contained 41 full drums of aluminum cables, five used cables, and bundles of metal bars dumped seemingly randomly in the bush. No one has yet identified the person responsible for leaving these materials.

Hashem Tanko Nuhu from National Security explained they were instructed to confiscate the items for further investigation. The team plans to contact ECG headquarters and seek more information. Residents nearby appeared unaware of the equipment's origins or the land's ownership.

National Security expressed serious concerns about how electrical supplies ended up at a private residence. Though ECG confirmed a contractual relationship with MBH Power, the company could not verify the appropriate procedures for storing electrical supplies.

The investigation continues as authorities work to understand how these electrical materials were collected and why they were stored in such unusual locations. National Security remains committed to uncovering the full story behind this mysterious equipment discovery.
