Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh drop Sapphire duet, blend Hindi and Punjabi in new hit

Grammy winner Ed Sheeran collaborated with Bollywood vocalist Arijit Singh on a special version of Sapphire. The British musician travels to Jiaganj Azimganj with his father for this musical partnership. Singh guided them through local sights via boat while they shared meals and conversations about music.

The recording session featured Singh teaching Sheeran Punjabi vocals and sitar techniques. The artists took late evening motorcycle rides through the area and discussed their creative processes. Sheeran describes this experience as among his career highlights and calls it a musical pilgrimage.

The new version blends Hindi, Punjabi, and English languages across different vocal sections. Singh performs verses mixing Hindi and Punjabi while Sheeran handles choruses combining the same languages. Both musicians worked on original and remix versions during sessions in Goa.

Producers llya Salmanzadeh, Johnny McDaid, and Savan Kotecha crafted both tracks with South Asian percussion elements. Sheeran plans to release his album Play on September 12, 2025.
