Electoral Commission Updates Voter Register

Ugandans Can Now Register to Vote for the 2026 Elections.

The Electoral Commission of Uganda has started updating the National Voters' Register in preparation for the general elections in 2025 and 2026.

Voters can register at update stations in each parish or ward across the country. The voter registration period began on January 20, 2025, and will end on February 10, 2025.

During this time, the Commission will register new voters and process requests from voters to change their voting location.

Students who turn 18 and have a National Identification Number (NIN) from NIRA can vote. They must go to an update center to be assigned a polling station.

Justice Simon Byabakama is the Electoral Commission chairman. He said these students do not need to register again. They just need to show their NIN and choose their preferred polling station.

The general update is also open to all eligible Ugandans aged 18 and above who have not registered to vote before.
