IEBC resumes voter registration for 2027 polls starting Monday

Kenya's electoral commission launches voter registration Monday across constituency offices nationwide. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission excludes areas conducting by-elections from this enrollment drive. Citizens can register fresh, update personal information, transfer locations, or verify existing records through September 29. Officials encourage early participation to prevent delays before the 2027 general election.

Eligible participants must hold Kenyan citizenship, reach eighteen years minimum, and present valid identification documents. Previously registered individuals cannot apply again for new enrollment. The commission bars people convicted of election violations within five years or those declared mentally incompetent. Verification services operate through the official website verify.iebc.or.ke during weekday business hours.

Chairman Erastus Ethekon stressed that accurate voter rolls strengthen democratic processes. Registration offices operate Monday through Friday from eight until five o'clock. Young adults reaching voting age should complete enrollment promptly rather than wait for major campaigns. Every citizen's involvement enhances electoral integrity and national representation.
