President Nandi-Ndaitwah picked Ambassador Emilia Mkusa as the new Cabinet secretary starting May 1. State House press secretary Alfred Hengari announced this on Tuesday. Mkusa takes over from George Simataa, who has held the job since 2015.
The president made this choice under Article 43 of Namibia's Constitution. She believes Mkusa can handle all her new duties well. Mkusa brings skills in human resources, money management, foreign relations, and how parliament works. Her past jobs include serving as ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti, South Sudan, and Sudan. The president wishes her success in her important new role.
