Entebbe Airport Booms with Insane 2025 Passenger Surge

Many people traveled through Uganda's biggest airport in January 2025. The airport, called Entebbe International Airport, welcomed 216,740 visitors. This number shows more people came than last year, when 194,563 people used the airport in January 2024.

A man who works at the airport named Mr. Luggya explained why more people are flying. He said many people came to Uganda for big meetings. A new airline company called Uganda Airlines started flying to more places. Other new companies like Kush Air and Premier Airlines began flying planes to a city called Juba.

The airport was extra busy in December 2024, when 222,317 people came through—the most people ever at the airport. Many people also flew in August 2024 and December 2023. The airport keeps growing bigger every year. In 2024, more than 2 million people used the airport, which made it busier than Kenya's biggest airport.

The airport helps move lots of things between countries. In January 2025, they moved 5,069 big boxes of stuff. Some things left Uganda and went to other places; other things came into Uganda from different countries. Mr. Luggya said the airport will keep growing because Uganda wants to help more planes land and take off from there. They are making the airport better by building new things to help more planes and people use it.
