Chinese authorities rescued 350 trekkers trapped by heavy snowfall near Mount Everest's eastern face in Tibet and guided them to a reception point in Qudang township. State media reported the hikers reached safety in good condition after becoming stranded in Karma Valley when storms struck on Friday night and continued through Saturday. Rescue teams established contact with more than 200 additional trekkers and escorted them from the remote area at 4,200 meters.
The crisis unfolded as hundreds of people visited the region during China's week-long National Day holiday. Local officials worked with police and villagers to clear snow-blocked routes. Unusual precipitation has disrupted travel across the Himalayas in recent days.
