Nigerian authorities nabbed an ex-convict hiding drugs in speakers. The suspect, 41-year-old Ndubuisi Udatu, also called Richard, was caught during a bus search at a checkpoint in Adamawa State. Officers found 2.7 kilograms of methamphetamine stuffed inside two large music speakers along with N22,300 cash.
Richard admitted returning to Nigeria after serving jail time in Malaysia for similar offenses. He planned to distribute the drugs in Adamawa State markets before smuggling some into neighboring Cameroon. The arrest happened on April 7 at Namtari checkpoint on the Ngurore-Yola road, according to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi.
Officials made several other drug seizures recently. They arrested 35-year-old Odoh Peter Ikechukwu at the Nigeria-Cameroon border carrying nearly 400 kilograms of various opioids, including fentanyl. In Kano, agents caught Aliyu Ibrahim with multiple ATM cards alongside 25,600 tramadol pills.
NDLEA forces also intercepted 124 kilograms of high-potency cannabis hidden inside a Lexus car driven by 58-year-old Ademiluyi Adedapo Collins. NDLEA head Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa praised his teams for these operations across multiple states.
Marwa encouraged officers nationwide to continue aggressive action against drug trafficking organizations. He emphasized the importance of balancing enforcement with prevention efforts to reduce demand for illegal substances throughout the country.
