Ex IGP thanks Akufo Addo for his chance to serve Ghana

Dr. George Akuffo Dampare thanked former President Akufo-Addo after losing his job as Inspector General of Police. His assistant, Nana Osei Afrifa, shared his message on March 14, 2025. Dr. Dampare thanked God first, plus all Ghanaians who prayed for him and backed him during his time as police chief. He felt happy about all the love shown by many people inside and outside Ghana since yesterday.

He felt grateful to former President Akufo-Addo, who picked him as the youngest IGP in the Fourth Republic. Dr. Dampare also thanked President John Dramani Mahama for working well with him during their short time together. He appreciated religious and traditional leaders who guided him with prayers and wisdom throughout his leadership. He mentioned heads of other security groups who helped him do his job better.

Dr. Dampare thanked groups that spoke up for citizens when they gave ideas about how he ran things. He valued how international friends and embassy staff stayed connected with him when he led the police. He looked back at his 35 years as a police officer with pride. He started as a General Constable and climbed all the way to the top job, breaking records as the youngest Commissioner and IGP.

He thanked the Police Management Board and every officer who served with him and wished them luck as they continued protecting Ghana. Dr. Dampare, who is almost 55 years old, promised he still feels strong and ready to help Ghana more. He promised to stay disciplined and serve his country with honor, just like he always has.
