A man got in trouble for acting like a big chief. Timothy Chiminya lives in Harare. He told people he was Chief Munhumutapa. He said he could pick who becomes a chief and who stops being one.
The police took him to court. Mr Matova, the judge, said Chiminya must stay in jail until January 7. The government's chief helper, Mr Chikovo, told the court what Chiminya did wrong.
Chiminya claimed a spirit told him he was King Munhumutapa. He went to Chief Seke's house in February 2024. He met Mr Chimanike, the real chief there. Chiminya told Mr Chimanike he wasn't chief anymore. He said someone named Masimba Rubatika would be the new chief instead.
Mr Chimanike told the government what happened. But Chiminya didn't stop there. He picked three more people to be chiefs. He chose new leaders in places called Chirumhanzu and Zaka.
The court heard that Chiminya broke the law. Only Zimbabwe's President can pick new chiefs. That's what the country's rules say. Chiminya made things very mixed up. He made people wonder who the real chiefs were.
The leaders of all chiefs in Zimbabwe had problems because of what Chiminya did. People didn't know which chiefs to listen to anymore. The court said Chiminya made fun of the President by acting like he had the President's powers. He tried to fire chiefs the President had picked. This messed up how things work in many villages.
