Fans Shocked as Vasily Funtikov Drops Dead at 63

Russian actor Vasily Funtikov died Tuesday at age 62. The Union of Cinematographers announced his sudden death on their website. Funtikov worked as both a theater performer and a movie star during his career. He belonged to several acting organizations across Russia. His family will hold funeral services on May 30th.

Funtikov was born on July 5th, 1962, right here in Moscow. He graduated from the Higher Theatre School, named after B. Shchukin, in 1984. The young actor found work at the Theatre of the Soviet Army first. He later moved to the Moscow Drama Theatre named after Pushkin. Both theaters provided him with opportunities to develop his acting skills.

Movie fans knew Funtikov best for playing Krosh in the film Krosh's Vacation. Director Grigory Aronov cast him in that popular role. The actor appeared in thirty different movies throughout his lifetime. His other films were The Unknown Soldier and Sunday Half Past Six. He also acted in Presumption of Innocence, among many others.

Funtikov will be buried at Khovanskoye Cemetery next Friday. Fellow actors remember him as a dedicated performer who was passionate about his craft. His death shocked many people in the Russian entertainment world. Colleagues praised his talent and professional commitment over the years. The acting community has lost an important member.
