Farmers Demand Cattle Profiling to Crush Herders Crisis

Edo State farmers want government officials to register all cattle and their handlers. AFAN chairman Bako Dogwo spoke at the first meeting for the new Federal Ministry of Livestock Development. He believes tracking animals and people will help solve fighting between crop growers and cattle keepers. Dogwo offered to share more ideas about ending the long dispute. The farmer leader thanked President Tinubu for creating the separate livestock department.

Poultry farmers also asked for special attention during the government meeting. PFAN leader Jolly Idelegbagbon wants a poultry section inside the new ministry. Dr Samuel Owoicho explained that livestock issues moved from the agriculture ministry to stand alone. The change gives animal farmers better government services and support programs. Officials hope the new setup will boost food production across Nigeria.

State agriculture leaders promised to help the federal ministry succeed. Permanent Secretary Peter Osagie pledged cooperation from Edo government workers. The meeting brought together different farming groups to discuss future plans. Animal farming could create more jobs and income for rural communities. Leaders want to use the livestock business to strengthen the state economy.
