Farmers get title deeds closer to home

Zimbabwe has started putting title deed offices in different areas across the country. This brings land services closer to farmers who need them. The plan helps farmers avoid long trips to Harare when they want official papers for their land. Many farmers jumped at this chance right away. By March 31, exactly 2,518 farm owners had already started the process, beating the target of 2,500.

The government checked over 13,000 farms since December last year. All these farms can receive title deeds under the program that President Mnangagwa began. About 525 farmers asked banks for loans using their new papers as backing. This has already created $74 million for farm growth. Professor Obert Jiri from the Lands Ministry told reporters that local offices make everything easier for rural people.

Every farmer with proper papers qualifies for these title deeds - including those with model A1 farms, model A2 farms, resettlement farms, commercial schemes, and small-scale operations. The government promises fair treatment through clear steps. They want every case handled the same way, whether processed in big cities or small towns. Local teams follow the same rules as Harare staff.

These title deeds changed everything for farmers. They prove real ownership that banks accept when farmers ask for money. Farm owners feel safe making big improvements because they know the land stays theirs. They plant trees that take years to grow, build water systems, and add better animal shelters because their future seems certain. The country wins when farm output grows stronger each season.

Four major banks already work with this program, lending money against the new title deeds. More banks will join because farming brings steady profits, especially as Zimbabwe protects crops from changing weather patterns. Professor Jiri explained that agriculture drives the country toward its Vision 2030 goals. The program ensures that foreigners cannot take over Zimbabwe's farmland. This keeps the benefits inside the country, where regular citizens feel the good results directly.
