A 74-year-old father learned his son died in a fiery highway crash after friends visited his home to deliver the news. Ahmad Lin @ Mustafa discovered on Saturday evening that Mohd Fitri, 35, perished when a vehicle lost control on Jalan Permatang Baru in Sungai Lokan, struck an earth pile, and burst into flames. The father said his eighth of 10 children never informed the family about traveling to Perak with companions before the 7:30 a.m. accident that killed two people.
The family awaits DNA results from the victim's sister to claim the remains, but the process requires three weeks to one month because of severe burns. Mohd Arif, the deceased's younger brother, remembered Fitri as hardworking, and he noted his sibling disliked driving. Authorities have not identified the second victim.
