A man from Marange wants DNA testing for his baby after suspecting his wife cheated during his absence. Lovemore Gore left for work in Harare last November and stayed away for one full year. His second wife Emilia Nemaramba told him she was pregnant in March. She gave birth in November when he returned home. Gore believes the timing proves the child belongs to another man.
The father of 20 children needs 300 dollars to pay for genetic testing. He suspects Gwinyai Karushanga had an affair with his wife during his absence. Gore says village residents knew about the relationship between Nemaramba and Karushanga. He caught them together once before in 2018 but forgave his wife. Gore claims his gut feeling tells him the baby is not his.
Village court hearings failed to resolve the dispute over the child's parentage. Traditional leader Rizwe Matazwa confirmed both parties appeared before his court. Nemaramba insists Gore fathered the baby despite the timing questions. Karushanga denies having any romantic relationship with the woman. The village head referred the case for DNA testing but Gore still lacks money for the procedure.
The village leader criticized Gore for being an absent father to his many wives and children. He said other wives have complained about Gore neglecting his family duties. The leader admitted beating Gore after discovering he stole an official stamp. Gore used the stolen stamp to forge divorce papers without proper family involvement.
