Final Fantasy XVI Could Be Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Square Enix developers hinted that Final Fantasy XVI might come to Nintendo Switch 2 during a recent live stream. Producer Naoki Yoshida and creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro joked about Nintendo being the only platform without the game. Maehiro responded that he would do his best when they mentioned this gap.

The comment appeared casual and friendly rather than an official announcement. Both men were discussing how Final Fantasy XVI had just launched on Xbox consoles after being available on PlayStation and PC. Their conversation touched on what players could expect from future Final Fantasy releases.

Rumors about Final Fantasy XVI coming to Switch 2 started earlier this year. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will arrive on the upcoming Nintendo console. Reports suggest the entire VII Remake trilogy may also reach Switch 2.

Running Final Fantasy XVI on the original Switch seemed impossible due to technical limitations. The Switch 2 appears much more powerful and could handle demanding games like this one. Performance would likely differ from PC and console versions but could still work well.

A successful port would demonstrate the Switch 2's improved capabilities compared to its predecessor. The gaming community has watched closely as more complex titles become possible on Nintendo hardware. Final Fantasy XVI joining the Switch 2 library would mark another major achievement for portable gaming.
