Firefighters saved a major industrial area after flames destroyed more than 500 wooden buildings Wednesday night. The structures behind Ferro Fabrik Limited in Tema caught fire late at night but nobody got hurt. Fire crews arrived within six minutes of the emergency call and stopped the blaze from reaching nearby factories.
The Ghana National Fire Service received the distress call at 11:52 PM and sent their first truck immediately. Seven fire engines from different stations joined the fight against the flames. Emergency teams worked through the night and put out the fire completely at 5:43 AM Thursday morning.
