Fire Emblem sequel rumored for Nintendo Switch 2 as developer leaks new project

A veteran Japanese 3D character modeler disclosed work on Nintendo's tactical role-playing game sequel for Switch 2. The artist contributed to the project between January and April 2025 according to LinkedIn information discovered by Doctre81. This professional has collaborated with major publishers such as Square Enix, SEGA, and Cygames throughout their career. The brief work period suggests either a new Fire Emblem installment or an enhanced version of existing Switch titles. Fire Emblem represents the most likely candidate given Advance Wars' limited recent popularity.

The tactical role-playing franchise has remained dormant since Fire Emblem Engage's 2023 release. That entry received praise for solid gameplay mechanics while facing criticism for character designs and story elements. Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp failed to achieve strong sales performance, making a sequel unlikely. Nintendo Switch 2 development for Fire Emblem would satisfy fans seeking franchise renewal. The modeling work's short duration indicates possible enhancement rather than complete game development.
