Fog rolls into St Petersburg cutting visibility

Fog has settled over St. Petersburg as the Ministry of Emergency Situations warns residents about dangerous weather conditions. The Northern capital woke up Friday morning to cloudy skies with thick haze limiting visibility throughout the city. Officials from the North-West UGMS weather service predict patches of fog reducing road visibility to 500 meters or less in some areas. Emergency services urge drivers to take extra precautions when traveling around the city during these hazardous conditions.

Road safety experts recommend that drivers slow down considerably during foggy conditions. Motorists should maintain a greater distance between vehicles on all roads. Authorities ask everyone to switch on fog lights for better visibility to other drivers. The current weather comes just two days after St. Petersburg experienced record-breaking heat on Wednesday, April 16. Weather officials continue monitoring conditions as the fog affects transportation across the city.
