Former Diamond Mogul Snags Agri Ministry Job

Political expert Sakaria Johannes worries about Namibia naming more women to top jobs than men. He thinks former diamond company leader Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi might not deserve her new agriculture minister job. He says women should earn positions through skills rather than gender. President Nandi-Ndaitwah picked Zaamwani-Kamwi yesterday to replace Mac Hengari, who faces bribery charges. Johannes fears an imbalance with the female future slogan.

Former lawmaker Maximalliant Katjimune wants people to give the new minister a chance since she has no known problems. Zaamwani-Kamwi ran Namdeb Diamond Corporation for sixteen years until 2015. She later served as presidential adviser on business matters for nearly ten years. The president believes her leadership experience will help create jobs through farming. United Democratic Movement leader Jan van Wyk thinks mining knowledge can help her succeed. He asks citizens to wait before judging her work at the large ministry.
