A magistrate in Dhaka authorized five additional days of detention for four suspects connected to the fatal shooting of Tarik Saif Mamun outside National Medical College Hospital in Old Dhaka. Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman approved the extension after investigators requested ten days to question Md Faruk Hossain Faisal, Robin Ahmed Piyas, Md Rubel, and Shamim Ahmed, who were presented following their arrest in connection with the slaying.
Authorities stated the killing resulted from criminal gang rivalry, with Faruk and Robin allegedly hired as gunmen for 200,000 taka. Investigators identified another suspect, Roni, as the organizer behind the attack, which stemmed from internal conflict within a group that included both Roni and the victim. Mamun was killed in daylight moments after attending a court hearing for an unrelated homicide case.
The same defendants had previously received four days of remand from another magistrate in an arms possession case filed at Mohammadpur Police Station.
