Freeport's Grasberg mine is a tomb for 7 in Indonesia

Freeport said on Sunday that all seven workers missing after a mudflow at Indonesia's Grasberg copper and gold mine are dead, after crews found five more bodies. About 800,000 metric tons of wet material swept through the site on Sept. 8, and trapped seven workers. Operations at the Grasberg mine have been suspended for nearly a month, and Freeport-McMoRan has warned of lower consolidated copper and gold sales in the third quarter. The company stated that it is advancing its investigation into the cause and is collaborating with Indonesian authorities to assess the event and determine future operating plans.
