Marc Marquez crashes, breaks shoulder in Indonesia

Marc Marquez sustained suspected ligament damage to his clavicle after Marco Bezzecchi struck his Ducati during the opening lap of the Indonesian Grand Prix on Sunday. The collision sent both riders into the gravel, and medical staff transported them to the circuit medical center for evaluation. Marquez plans to travel to Madrid for comprehensive imaging after initial examinations proved inconclusive because of his complicated injury history from a 2020 crash at Jerez.

The reigning champion declined to criticize Bezzecchi for the contact, instead attributing the incident to racing circumstances. Dr. Angel Charte indicated that Marquez might have fractured his shoulder, but doctors require additional testing to confirm the diagnosis. The injury forced Marquez to cancel scheduled media appearances following his recent championship victory at Motegi. Medical professionals expect to provide definitive results after the Madrid evaluation.
