Galadima rejects school closures, urges tech for safety

Buba Galadima, who sits on the New Nigeria People's Party board of trustees, has criticized federal authorities for shutting down educational institutions rather than securing them against criminal threats. Speaking during a televised discussion, Galadima argued that relying on traditional security measures is outdated and called for technological solutions that can identify dangers before they materialize.

He described the decision to close schools as disgraceful, emphasizing that officials should establish specialized teams and use modern surveillance systems to protect students while keeping classrooms open. His remarks followed the government's recent directive shuttering 41 unity colleges after renewed waves of student kidnappings in several regions.

Hajiya Binta Abdulkadir issued the closure order on behalf of federal education officials, describing it as a preventive action against potential security violations at vulnerable campuses. School administrators received instructions to implement the measure immediately.
