Galamsey Coalition demands probe into MP and NDC executives over mining links

A group fighting illegal mining wants authorities to investigate a politician and two party officials right away. The Ghana Coalition Against Galamsey says these people might be connected to unlawful mining activities that harm the environment. They want police and other agencies to check these claims without protecting anyone because of their political connections.

The coalition leader says communities face serious health problems from poisoned water and damaged land. He believes the situation has become dangerous enough that the government should declare an emergency in areas where illegal mining happens. The group worries that when lawmakers break the law themselves, it shows the whole system has problems.

Officials must charge anyone who commits crimes related to illegal mining regardless of their political importance. The coalition demands equal treatment under the law for everyone involved in these activities. Many citizens feel frustrated because the government promised to stop illegal mining but has not succeeded.

The environmental damage continues to spread across Ghana despite government efforts to control it. This latest demand shows how urgent the problem has become for protecting natural resources and maintaining public trust in the legal system.
