Galaxy Ring 2 delayed, legal drama with Oura heats up

Samsung is reportedly reconsidering the launch schedule for its Galaxy Ring 2. The planned successor faces delays due to underwhelming sales of the first model and a complex patent war with rival Oura. This legal battle involves lawsuits and counter lawsuits filed in the United States courts.

Industry sources suggest the smart ring remains in development and will not be ready for Samsung's early-year unveiling event. Oura, a dominant force in the market, initiated a patent infringement case against Samsung and other companies recently. Samsung had previously sought a legal declaration of non-infringement before the original ring launched, but that case was dismissed.

The South Korean giant then filed its own patent suit against Oura, escalating the conflict. This legal morass, combined with poor market reception for the current Galaxy Ring, creates significant uncertainty. Samsung is now evaluating its entire strategy for the wearable's next generation amidst these twin pressures.
