Galaxy S26 may skip UFS 4.1 as Samsung cuts corners

Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor brings UFS 4.1 storage support to Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 smartphones. The advanced storage technology delivers faster boot times and improved cache management compared to current UFS 4.0 systems. Micron developed the UFS 4.1 standard earlier this year and maintains its partnership with Samsung for memory components. Enhanced storage capabilities help mobile devices handle demanding artificial intelligence applications more efficiently.

Samsung plans to announce its Exynos 2600 chipset later this year for flagship devices. The company has not confirmed whether its first 2-nanometer processor supports UFS 4.1 technology. Previous Galaxy S25 models shipped with slower UFS 3.1 storage on base configurations while higher-capacity versions received UFS 4.0 components. Samsung may continue this approach with the Galaxy S26 series despite processor capabilities.
