Gambia Bags Massive EU Partnership Windfall

The Gambia started new talks with the European Union on Friday at the Atlantic Hotel in Banjul. Both sides came together to plan how they would help each other grow. Foreign Affairs officials led the meeting as part of the Samoa Agreement. Trade Minister Joof talked about peace goals when he spoke for his country. He said The Gambia wants to build stronger democratic systems.

The minister explained that his nation cares about human rights and fair voting. The Gambia supports West African efforts for regional peace. EU representative Larinjinha said the Gambia gets more European aid per person than other African countries. She pointed out that EU help began right after President Barrow won the 2016 election. These countries signed their partnership agreement last November.
