Gambia Fish and Farm Schools Get Mega Makeover

Education leaders met on Wednesday in Bakau about plans for two job training centers. They talked with experts from business, schools, and government. The goal was to finish a plan for new fishing and farming programs. World Bank money supports this work through the finance office.

These centers will train people for careers in fishing and farming. Officials say these areas are crucial for food and jobs. The plan helps teachers learn better skills and connects students with companies that might hire them later.

Higher Education Minister Prof Pierre Gomez called the plan a path toward action. He said it shows what everyone wants for job training programs. The country aims to grow enough food for all its people. Officials plan to build centers in Ndemban and Tujereng within two years.

After the meeting, leaders will complete the final plan. The education ministry will make it part of national school planning. This document will guide how they spend money and work with partners. It focuses on building skills across the farming and fishing industries.
