Police Fire Officer Who Forced Couple to Strip at Beach.
The Gambia's police chief fired an officer who made a couple take off their clothes at a beach and tried to get money from them.
Police head Seedy Touray said on the radio that Sergeant Lamin Gibba broke the rules. He called the act wrong and said he would not let officers do such things.
The case started last November when a couple told police in Senegambia about Gibba. They said he caught them at the beach and claimed they were having sex. He said he wanted to stop bad acts in public.
Gibba made them take off their clothes and film them one by one. Then he asked for 30,000 dalasi. If they did not pay, he would share the videos.
The couple paid him 7,000 dalasi right then. Later, they sent 10,000 more through their phones, saying they would give the rest soon.
The couple felt brave and went to tell the other police what had happened. At the station, they called Gibba, with the police listening. He told them to meet him in Lamin town with money. The police went with the couple and caught Gibba there.
Police investigated Gibba's actions and found that he broke many rules, which is why they fired him.
