Gambian tourism minister demands unity from sector officials

Tourism Minister Abdoulie Jobe launched a strategic retreat at Ocean Bay hotel in Bakau on Tuesday. Senior ministry officials and representatives from affiliated organizations gathered for the quarterly assessment meeting. The session aimed to evaluate sector advancement and coordinate efforts under the Recovery-Focused National Development Plan framework. Participants examined current challenges while developing unified approaches for future growth.

Jobe stressed collaborative partnerships as essential for ministry achievements during the opening session. He referenced guidance shared with staff during March 2025 about collective responsibility and shared progress. The minister encouraged professional excellence and creative solutions as the industry recovers from pandemic impacts. Representatives from the Tourism Diversification and Resilience Project attended alongside Youth Empowerment Project coordinators. The ministry plans continued quarterly sessions to monitor tourism and cultural sector development through structured dialogue and strategic planning initiatives.
