The province advances connectivity through its Provincial Network Phase 3, establishing 1,321 wide area network sites and 737 local area network locations. Officials completed 119 Wi-Fi hotspots across 26 townships and installed 423 voice over IP systems. The department targets schools, libraries, clinics, and community centers in townships, informal settlements, and hostels.
Security improvements feature 517 closed-circuit television cameras positioned at crime hotspots. Vumacam partnership provides access to 6,399 additional surveillance devices throughout Gauteng. The e-Policing program distributed physical emergency buttons and recorded over 90,000 mobile application downloads. Emergency services responded to 51,000 incidents involving accidents, shootings, and gender-based violence across Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, and Tshwane.
