Ghana Black Stars stuck at 76th FIFA spot as Otto Addo battles critics

Ghana stayed stuck at 76th place in the latest FIFA world rankings that came out Thursday. The Black Stars had climbed one spot last time but could not move any higher after their recent games in London. The team played at the 2025 Unity Cup where they had ups and downs against tough opponents. Nigeria knocked them out in the semifinals but Ghana fought back to beat Trinidad and Tobago for third place. The mixed results left their global ranking exactly where it was before.

The African rankings tell the same story for the Black Stars who remain 14th among continental teams. Ghana had hoped their Unity Cup performances might push them up the ladder but the numbers stayed the same. Head coach Otto Addo watched his players show both promise and frustration during the tournament. The team will get another chance to prove themselves when competitive matches return later in the year.

Addo wants to build on what his squad learned from their London experience. The coach knows Ghana needs consistent results to climb higher in the world rankings. Beating Trinidad and Tobago gave the team some confidence after losing to their West African rivals. The Black Stars must string together better performances if they want to break into the top 70 globally. African football fans will be watching when Ghana returns to action.
